Artist Statement, Mixed Media, 2012.

We are all trapped in our own white boxes.
I make mine my own.
Blurring the line between truth and illusion,
Fact and fiction can be one and the same.
Both exposed and disguised,
I only show you what I want you to see.

Louise Bourgeois said, modern art “…is about the hurt of not being able to express yourself properly, to express your intimate relations, your unconscious, to trust the world enough to express yourself directly in it….”1

My art stems from my quest to find sanity in the modern world. I began use my own nude form to put my body in a context where I would begin to accept it. I use artifacts from my past to bring to light the multiple identities that emerge and dissolve in and out of each other that I and every human being have.  I manipulate the world through projections and abstract shapes and use my body as a medium so that I can grapple with myself.
